We are grateful for our building at Jefferson and
Houbolt. It has been and is being sustained by faithful and loving people. But this building is not Messiah Lutheran Church. It is a building. That is
all.
The church is people…boys and girls, youth and
adults. Together we are the local expression of Christ’s world-wide
body of believers. We are all ministers here. Only one is a pastor, but all are
ministers---ministers to God, to each other and to the world.
We have set some priorities. They are “in cement”.
First, we are committed to the Person of God
Himself in Jesus Christ. The Christian life is to be lived from the center
out, with God. At the center is Jesus Christ and all His glory abides in
each of us.
Second, we are committed to each other in Christ.
We are called the Body of Christ. So we are connected and made to be
dependent on each other in His body. That means we must love and care for
each other.
Third, we are committed to the work of Christ in
the world. We want this world to know the Savior who died for all. It
makes no difference what color or age or social status or nation…we want to
tell people that “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten
Son…” and then show compassion for their needs. God thinks all people are
worth that! That’s Good News! That’s the Gospel!
Come with us to Christ. He is going places and we
intend to follow Him.
